DIRT BIKE RACING: Ty Lynch may look pretty small standing next to his motorbike but he is a pocket rocket of energy and when out on the dirt bike track he gives it his all and can mix it with the best of them.
This was proved last weekend when Ty finished third in the 85cc class of the Australian National Junior Dirt Bike Championships.
The championships were held in Sommersby, New South Wales, over the weekend of July 18, 19 and 20.
Ty made the road trip interstate with his parents, Shane and Angela, and competed in two classes; the 85cc two stroke for nine to 11-year-olds and the 65cc class for nine to 13-year-olds.
There were 24 riders in each class and including heats and finals, Ty took to the track in 12 different races over the weekend.
It was in the 85cc class where Ty tasted success and after making the final he rode his heart out to finish in third place.
"I was a bit disappointed after the first final but in the second final it was better, there was a re-start which helped.
"When I went over the finish line I thought I was in fourth place but then I was told I was third," Ty said.
Ty has been riding motorbikes since he was just four-years-old and racing, primarily with the Mud 'n' Tars Motorcycle Club, since he was five.
The taste of success has stuck with Ty and he has aspirations to move into road bike racing and perform like his favourite MotoGP champion, Casey Stoner.
"He goes really fast and he's a world champ, my idea is to be like Casey Stoner," Ty said.
Ty thanks the sponsorship and support he has received from Adelaide Motorcycle Recovery, Victor Motorcycles, Neville Lush Racing, Pro Street Cycles, Peter Stevens Motorcycles, Race Bike Services, Dunlop Tyres Victor Harbor, Heads and Treads, Underground Designs and Kawasaki.
