Max off to compete with top class surfers

9/07/2008 3:50:00 PM
SURFING: Max Longhurst of Victor Harbor is only 15 years of age, but if there is a surfing competition happening he loves nothing better than waxing his board and hitting the waves.

Max has now entered the under 16 Rusty Gromfest at Lennox Head, New South Wales, which will be held from July 11 to 14.

It is the largest junior surfing competition in the southern hemisphere.

"I am very excited, as I will be surfing against the best junior surfers in the region," Max said.

Max has performed well in 2008, competing in the Robe Easter Classic, three rounds of the State Titles and the South Coast Boardriders competition.

"I enjoy surfing the east coast of Australia and I really appreciate the support I have received from Andrew Hill from the Hotel Grosvenor.

"Sponsorship from Andrew, Fly Boardriding and Rip Curl has enabled me to compete in interstate events," Max said thankfully.
