VOLLEYBALL: Victor Harbor High School's open volleyball teams have had huge success in this year's SSSASA knockout competitions.
Both girls and boys teams fought hard through minor rounds to defeat all competing Fleurieu Schools to earn themselves a spot in the finals round held at Marion Leisure Centre on Monday August 8.
After a long day on the court and some sensational hard-hitting volleyball both teams ended up playing off for the gold medal.
With the boys narrowly being defeated by Edward John Eyre High to finish runner-up state champions it was left to the girls to fight for top spot.
The final was against William Light High and coach Mr Foot sprouted some grey hairs when the score was levelled at one set all and 14-14 in the third.
However the girls remained composed and continued to attack, block and scramble for every loose ball to emerge from the match as gold medal winners and state knockout volleyball champions within their pool.
Spike of the day went to Montana Marsh but all the girls played extremely well.
