Celebrating all things from the 1950s and 1960s, the festival will feature up to 100 classic cars on show plus motorbikes, live music, performances by professional rock'n'roll and swing dancers, and even a chance for you to have a dance too.

Best of all, it is a free event!

People are encouraged to dress up in their best 1950s gear, with prizes awarded for the best dressed.

There will also be a large marquee showcasing memorabilia from the rock 'n' roll era.

The idea for the event came about when car enthusiast and Victor Harbor resident Kym Langton approached the council with the idea nine months ago.

The committee of Tom Howard and Kym Langton is working with the City of Victor Harbor to organise the event.

People can still register cars to be part of the day, but entries are restricted to pre-1969 models only and vehicles that reflect the 1950s and Rock’n’Roll era.

"It is a chance to get everyone out to relive their memories, let the blood flow, wear your bobby socks and have fun," the Victor Harbor mayor Mary-Lou Corcoran said.

The day will go from 10am-4pm with the live entertainment beginning at 11am.

Two great acts getting everyone's toes tapping will be Jump 'n' Jive and the Memphis Suns.

The professional dancers will put on a great show, with lots of audience participation encouraged.

The council hopes to grow this festival over the next few years.

"We are trialling the event this year to gauge the level of interest from the public.

“We are looking to stimulate the economy during the quieter times of the year and we have identified that September is a shoulder period that could do with an injection into our economy," the council’s tourism coordinator Mark Przibilla said.
