Briggs to contest Mayo

20/07/2008 6:15:00 PM
Former advisor to John Howard, Jamie Briggs, has been chosen as the Liberal candidate for the seat of Mayo.

He defeated eight other candidates, including the state Member for Davenport, Iain Evans, who was the runnerup in the vote taken at the Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide today.

Briggs will contest the by-election, expected to be held next month, for the seat vacated by the former Foreign Affairs Minister, Alexander Downer.
